Within the Component of the project Municipal planning, on the base above announced Open call  to the municipalities, that is finished in 4th October, it is published the final selection of municipalities. For support of development of  sectoral plans it was selected 15 local self-government  and for support of development of action plans 12 local self-government. General goal of this Component , according to Prof. Dr Nikolas Miles, coordinator for municipal planning (GTZ), who in the conversation with Prof. Dr Igor Novakovic, president of City Municipality of Palilula highlighted during his visit to the Municipality, is focusing on support to the municipalities about implementation of Local strategies of sustainable development (SLOR).

Trough component of Municipal planning Project attends to strengthen and support implementation of mentioned strategies. This activity, in project cycle from nine to twelve mounts, includes specific agreement and analysis of needs of environment about what will be done. Then is conceived Plan of Action and ten projects that will be basis for further talks about potency donors. According to professor Miles, our task is that in cooperation with representatives of municipalities define priorities and to get projects that can be offered for financing. On the base of adopted Strategies of local sustainable development it was elected 12 municipalities. City Municipality of Palilula in Nis is between 12 municipalities in Serbia that is elected for technical support to the process of making of Plan of action within component of Municipal planning of the Project MSP IPA 2007. Support to the development of concept of project, beside of Nis` Palilula Municipality will be realized and in the municipalities: Kanjiza, Kula, Koceljeva, Ub, Topola, Pracin, Trstenik, Raska, Bojnik, Vlasotince, Trgoviste and cities Uzice and Novi Pazar.

For support to the making of sectoral plans it was elected 15 cities – municipalities, including the City of Nis. Area of support to the Project MSP IPA 2007 for making of local municipal/cities plans coverage following activities: For City of Nis, support to the making of regional plan of rural development for Nisava` District; for City of Valjevo, support to the making of local energetic plans; for City of Kragujevac, support to the making of plan for development of traffic; for City of Uzice, support to the making of plan for habitation; for City of Pozarevac, support to the making of local plans for management of environment; Municipality of Ivanjica will have support for making of local plans for management of environment; Municipality of Razanj support for making of local plans for management of environment; Municipality of Dimitrovgrad, support to the making of local energetic plans; Municipality of Soko Banja, support of making of local plan for waste management; Municipality of Barajevo and Municipality of Nova Varos, support of making of local plan for waste management; Municipality of Prijepolje, support of making of regional plan of waste management in cooperation with municipalities of Priboj and Nova Varos; Municipality of  Stara Pazova and Municipality Odzaci, support of making of local plan for sector of small and medium enterprises; Municipality of Zitiste, support of making of local plan in area of rural development.

Project of support to the municipalities MSP IPA 2007 is financed European Union, implemented by consortium led by German Society for technical cooperation (GTZ). MSP IPA 2007 gives support to the municipalities through for components of project from which first two components are focused on municipal planning and managing of finances. This project closely cooperate with Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SKGO), Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self Government and local self – governments in Serbia. Implementation of project began in January 2010 and it will be ended in January 2013.  Project represents part of many years technical help and support of Fund grant for development of municipalities in Serbia.
